Saturday March 3rd, 2001.

TifaIA, Dragit, mckitlk.

Mckitlk's friend got back to her with a name idea for the web ring she's thinking of starting. She likes it, but hasn't yet had time to research it.
Tifa has continued working on her site, and has most of the bugs fixed.

We discussed what she should do with the IA petitions she's collected. She's going to scan them into her computer for backups, and then mail copies to both DreamWorks and Steven Spielberg. Jason will send her a file for the online petition, which she can include.

Jason has been unable to find a good web host that will let him use CGI scripts. However, he's trying CGI-For-Me, the site that previously hosted the online petition. He's waiting for confirmation of his membership. That site has a history of crashing and wiping out files, however. If he does set up the petition there, he plans to back it up frequently.

TifaIA, mckitlk.

Mckitlk had a chance to do some research on her friend's idea for a web ring. She's not quite sure it will work, but plans to check it out some more. She hopes to get the ring going soon.

Tifa hasn't mailed the petitions yet, because she hasn't received a copy of the online petition from Jason. She plans to check with him about it.
She came up with the idea of trying a 'Procott' for IA. It's intended to be the opposite of a boycott -- fans will agree to buy sponsors' products, and let the sponsors know what they're doing and why. A similar idea was used by the Sailor Moon fans and was one reason they were successful in getting that show renewed. Tifa thinks is that we can vote on which products to procott, and possibly we can do several over a period of time. This will be a good tie-in for IA's 3rd anniversary this summer. She'll check with her Sailor Moon contact for more information, and then put up a post about it on the message board.

Tifa has received a copy of the online petition from Jason. She'll make a copy and then send it to DreamWorks and to Steven Spielberg. She'll also post the information she received from her Sailor Moon contact regarding the procott they used to help get their show renewed.

Mckitlk has set up her web ring, _Ozzie and Harriet's Place, on Yahoo. She's received her first site submission but hasn't yet had time to check it out.

Combo Log
Saturday, April 14th, 2001; Saturday, April 28th, 2001; and Saturday, May 12th, 2001.

TifaIA and mckitlk attended all three meetings. Psycho-Mime was at the two April meetings. AJN/Darth Oosha attended the April 14th meeting. Dragit attended the meeting for April 21st. Lost Mind attended the May 12th meeting.

For anyone who uses an IRC chat program (such as mIRC) to access the chat room: The channel has been changed from #invasion to #ia. This was done beginning with the April 28th meeting. Jason and Tifa said the #invasion channel had been taken over by others when they were there on April 21st.

AJN: There was still a copy of an IA tape available on eBay that day. As he indicated on the WB message board, he'll be making copies of his tape to give to other people who ask for them. He also made the point that registering on online forums with IA names can help to draw attention to our show.

Jason: The IA website received 24 hits that week. He sent a copy of the online petition to Tifa to be mailed to DreamWorks and Spielberg. He found that the CGI-For-Me site will no longer work for the online petition because the owners made changes that prevent email addresses from working. Mckitlk has offered to host the petition on her site until a better solution can be found. Jason is to send her a list of the information he needs so he can modify his scripts to work at that location. Mckitlk also sent him the URL for a Java hosting site, but it doesn't support the kind of CGI scripts used for the petition. She may be able to write a Java equivalent.

Mckitlk: She'd gotten a site submission for her webring, but had to turn it down because of unacceptable content and has had no more submissions since. She's looking around again to see if there are any other webrings she can join. As of the May 12th meeting, Jason had sent her the list of information he needed to modify the scripts for the petition, and she's sent it to him.
Tifa: She mailed the petitions to DreamWorks and Spielberg. Right after that, someone returned an additional petition. She plans to send the petitions again and will include the new one.

TifaIA, mckitlk.

Tifa has been updating her site. She also sent out an email to fans who haven't been on the WB message board, to ask for any remaining petitions they might have lying around. She plans to send another mailing to Spielberg and DreamWorks, including the new petitions she receives.

Discussion turned to whether we should continue with the "Save IA" meetings and group efforts. The consensus is that we probably don't have enough of a fan base left to warrant it. Mckitlk will write a message on this and get Tifa's input. She'll then post the final draft on the WB message board and email it to the fans on her list.
