News

Invasion America Meetings are held every other Saturdays of the month at The Chat Room. Meetings start at 9:00 p.m. Eastern / 8:00 p.m. Central Time, but we always wait for a few minutes for those who are late. In these meetings we discuss ways to help in the Invasion America Cause as well as work on projects. Below are a listing of logs from past meetings. A special thanks to Mckitlk for creating the logs and allowing me access and use for this site. ^_^

Unfortunately, the Invasion America meetings are now officially at an end. Due to lack of people, the cause has fallen by a few points. Group efforts are over at the moment. Until something in the future changes the current situation, the meetings are now at an end. Individual efforts will still continue.

Final Log

Saturday, June 9th, 2001.

Dragit, TifaIA, RooB/Rathesungoddess, mckitlk.

RooB reports that someone named SFC (or SLC, she wasn't sure) was in the chat room last night (Friday). This person had been in touch with Steven Spielberg, who had shown an interest in a chat. SFC will get in touch with Mr. Spielberg again, and will get back with us after that, but it could take a couple of months. RooB said this person seems to know about the WB message board and comes when s/he can, but has been busy with work.
Jason reports that hits on the Cause site were a little down this week, but have remained consistent over the past weeks. He's undecided about whether to get the online petition working again. Mckitlk is to contact him in about a week to check on his decision.

Mckitlk posted the message about suspending formal group efforts for IA, and emailed it to additional people. She received one response, from an early fan, but that response didn't encourage her to think this fan would rejoin us. She also received another site submission to her webring, but had to turn it down because of unacceptable content. She modified the ring's description somewhat to clarify her 'family friendly' requirements.

Tifa has received no further word on additional petitions, but she does know of one that's still out there and, hopefully, will be returned to her. She'll wait on that one and then send a new batch to Spielberg and DreamWorks. She's also updating her site, and said she's starting to get 'Yosh' comments on a daily basis. It does appear that we're slowly influencing others for IA. Tifa is adding a backup message board to her site, in case WB ever takes its board down.

We discussed whether to continue formal group efforts and these 'Save IA' meetings. The consensus is that we simply don't have enough of an active fan base to warrant it, and therefore these activities will be suspended as of tonight. We can resume them at any time if developments warrant it, such as if the chat with Mr. Spielberg becomes a reality. Also, individual efforts can and should be continued.

For now, this is the last 'Save IA' meeting. If any more are called, the information will be posted.
