David ran across the buildings of the alleys, the shadows blending in with him. He moved slightly faster, not too fast so he looked casual to anyone who passed a glance at him. Damn... I should've went back for my bike...

The other hospital wasn't too far away, but it would have been easier if he had the bike. But that didn't bother David now, he kept going, occasionally looking back. The moon was now showing it's milky light on the world below, giving David an eerie feeling. The people began to become scarce and the lack of cars on the streets unusual, but still he kept going till he came to the hospital.

That was easy... David smiled to himself as he snuck around to the back of the hospital. He knew the others would follow him, but right now his mind was more on his little mission.

The back door was already loose so busting it opened was no problem. With his foot, he kicked it in, trying to keep himself hidden in the shadows. Entering through the side door, he made his way up the flight of stairs to the second floor. David had been in Iris's hospital more then he wanted to, but right now he was thanking God he was. Now he knew his way around this place; the buildings weren't to far apart from being exactly alike.

He kept his sunglasses on, which caused some nurses to look at him. He rather them stare because of that then of the reason he wore them.

Going down the corridor, he came upon the supply room. Smiling with relief, he jimmied open the door. Closing it behind him, he went rummaging through the different labeled bottles, till he came across the ones he needed. "Big bottle." He said out loud as he turned it over in his hands.

Making sure no one was there, he came back out. Now going faster in pace then just causal, he made his way to the fire escape when a voice, speaking in Tyrusian, stopped him.

"What the--" David turned around and came face to face with a small groups of Ga'lim.

Doc almost never left his foot off of the gas. The car has somehow managed to survive this though Doc's wild rampage. Jim was again giving a queasy look while Sonia could only stare blankly at Doc. Of course, who wouldn't? He 'was' driving like a mad man. Well, a mad Tyrusian to be exact.

"Doc...." Jim yelled over the roaring engine of the car.

Doc took a quick look over his shoulder before responding. "What'd you want kid?"

"Can you please slow down a little? Your gonna get us all killed"

Doc rolled his eyes. "Nah. Not going to happen." After a moment of silence, the car sped over a set of train tracks, almost literally knocking the three heads forward into the seats and dashboard. Jim rubbed his head, "We are going to die..." in a low tone voice.

Imre noted the sign as she passed it. Only fifty miles from Glenport, now. Lomac had told her to try to find the group at the newly built clinic, just a few miles down the road from the old county hospital. She thought back to his last words to her--

Don't be surprised by anything you see. And remember they are the enemy.

That's it, Imre thought, glaring up at the three story white building. Pretty darned big for a clinic; I wonder if Intel has its wires crossed again? She screeched to a stop in front of the building, dismounted, and began stowing her gear. A piercing yell sounded from inside the building. She looked up just in time to see the glass entryway blown out by several energy bolts.

"What the--"she began, but before she finished a boy leapt through the broken facade and started sprinting across the parking lot, parallel to her, and closely
pursued by a gang of freaks wearing fedoras and trench coats.

That has to be him, she thought. It's now or
never.

"Over here!" She cried. Startled, the boy obeyed. The gang following him turned their attention toward her as well, and the tallest of the monsters-the leader, perhaps-fired at her. She dived behind her bike and pulled a Colt 9mm. From the holster on her hip.
"They told me not to be surprised," she muttered. "But those things carry Arbusi!"

The young man dove down beside her. She waited for a pause in the arbus fire that spiraled overhead and then returned fire. Some fell; a few retreated toward the shadows.

In the distance, sirens could be heard. The few that remained standing took that as their cue to leave. She and the boy both breathed an audible sigh of relief, and glanced at each other, unsure. Just at that moment, a jeep pulled up. "The cavalry, late as usual." Imre said, half-joking, hoping to lighten the mood.

The com orb on Gordon's desk chirped urgently. Lomac picked it up, and activated it.

"Lomac," Gordon spoke quietly, cautiously. The only light on his features was that thrown by the orb. In the background, sounds of a battle being fought could
be heard.

"Sir?" he said.

"How went your report to the Dragit?"

"He was not best pleased, sir. He expected to hear from you personally."

Gorden sighed. "And?"

"And he's growing impatient, sir. He wants us to move up the timetable."

Angie and Phil left the hospital, the cool evening breeze being refreshing after the typical smell of disinfectant hospitals always had.

"I’m going to drive!" Angie said, eying her partner warily, waiting for a reaction.
To her surprise he didn’t object, but just nodded.

Somehow Angie wasn’t in the mood for driving quickly, besides they needed to drive slower in order to spot David. For quite a while they just drove silently through the nearly empty streets, only now and then some lonely people could be seen on the sidewalk. Phil was deep in thoughts and stared out of the window- after a while Angie decided to start a conversation as the silence was making her nervous.

"What do you think about David’s situation?" She asked, nearly casually, although she wanted to know if her partner felt as uneasy as she did.

Phil sighed, his forehead laid in heavy frowns. "I’m worried... He tries to act strong, but these seizures he has are nothing to joke with..." He sighed. "I should have taken better care of him... How could he just disappear? Damn... this boy is so stupid.."

Angie smiled at him "It’s not your fault, Phil... David is no longer a child..."

"But have you seen what happened to the man Iris showed us at the hospital? David needs people like us to watch over him and he just runs off..." Phil shook his head.

"Yes... I remember the man..." Angie trailed off "It was awful..."

Phil just nodded, then both were silent again for some time. After a while he turned on the radio, which made Angie grin -obviously Phil couldn’t stand the silence either at the moment.

Stark noticed her grin, and had to smile himself. "So you had a premonition? Maybe you laid some tarot cards too much..." It was meant teasingly, but Angie wasn’t really in the mood to joke about it.

"But I was right... Something was wrong- otherwise we wouldn't be sitting in the car, looking for David at such an hour..." she said, still having this foreboding feeling inside.

"Angie- the thing that happened to him does not have to happen automatically to David..." Phil said.

"I know- but all these things which are happening are so strange.. Iris’s explanations, Sonia's appearance..."

"But we are used too much more strange things, Angie- aren’t we?"

"It’s funny to hear that out of your mouth, Phil... It was you who didn’t believe in extraterrestrial life in the first place.." The car stopped at a traffic light; and Angie stared out of the window into the blinding lights of some nearby shops. Some people were standing before a shop window. I wonder how it feels to lead a normal life.. Do these people know about the perils we have to face? Probably not...

"Angie? Everything all right?" Phil's question brought her back to reality.

"Sorry. I was just thinking..." she said. "I don’t know why I feel so strange- this premonition frightened me... "

"Were you only worried about David?"

Angie shook her head. "No... I was worried about you, too..."

Phil cleared his throat. "That is.. Nice of you, but there's no need for that... You know that we were trained for special cases.."

"But this is not only a special case... Can’t you see? People are dying horribly‚ 'cause they forget to take some pills, we do not know what the enemy is up to and we can’t even take care of our own friend..." Angie couldn't hide some despair in her voice, being tired and exhausted from the day. Phil looked at her, not really knowing what to say- he wasn’t used to his partner uttering such thoughts.

Angie noticed this. Darn.. he really must think that I’m stupid saying such things. I’m no little frightened girl... "Phil... Forget what I said... I’m just a bit tired I think... and.. and...
Well everyday things change, new perils threatening mankind turn up...Lately I was just wondering what is stable in our lives..." Arg. what are you saying... Angry with herself, she stepped hardly on the gas pedal as the traffic light turned green.

Phil continued to look out of the window and for a moment just listened to the music in the radio, before he turned his gaze to Angie again, a serious expression to his face.

"Angie.... Whatever happens... I will be there... and you can trust me..." he said very calmly.

Yes... that I can. I know that you would never let me down... "Yes, I know this..." she said quietly, glad that the blinding street lights from outside were concealing the slight blush of her cheeks...
