Gordon hung up on the call with an irritated beep
and barely restrained himself from throwing the phone to the ground in anger.
Anger at the entire operation. "Damned hybrids," he muttered darkly.
No matter. Soon he would be done with them. Done with all of them. And perhaps
soon the Dragit would begin to see him in a favorable light once more. He shook his head sadly as he surveyed the damaged
clinic from a distance. Never he thought, Never
send a Ga'lim to do a man's job. Ah, but what was this? Two familiar figures were
Stark and Angie drove into the driveway, seeing Doc's
car parked in the garage. The lights inside were dim. Angie parked in the
driveway, turning off the engine just as Stark had left he car and walked
towards the side door. "Phil..." Stark turned around as Angie slammed
the door of the car, locking it before flipping the keys into her back pocket.
"Promise me that you won't go completely off on David. He may think he's
grown up, but he's still confused about a lot of things..." Stark lifted up
a hand. ---- Iris finished up her paperwork and turned back to the
group of three. "It's getting late. They might be getting worried." ---- Stark looked away from the computer as he heard the front door open, followed by the sound of a car driving off. He removed his hand from the chair and walked to the main hall. Angie gave him a slight nod as he passed by her. She didn't want him to forget, to remember the promise made earlier. Jim eyed Stark as he was rounding the corner. He tapped Sonia's shoulder. "I think we should leave while we have the chance." Sonia nodded her head. "David...good luck man. You'll defiantly need it." im saluted his friend and showed Sonia to the kitchen. David closed the front door, and stood still, awaiting for judgment. Stark hit the doorframe meting between the living room and the front hallway. "David..." The fury burring deep inside Stark was enough to blow up a small country. If David were neither a kid nor the prince of an alien race, then he would have surely thrown his butt into jail and not think twice about it. "I don't know what to say." Taking the chance to sound like a smart-ass, but being truthful, "That makes two of us," David replied. Stark nodded his head. "You pull anything like this ever again, expect to get your ass beaten to a bloody pulp." An idle threat, but one that he thought was sure to put David into his place. "We've got work to do." Stark turned around and walked back to Doc. David stood in his place for a few moments longer before following him. He had expected something more from Stark. This had to be a dream. Feeling the pain in his head, and the ache in his leg, this is not a dream. This is real. David shook his head, almost with humor, he was
obviously not frightened of Stark and his “threats” and he took his speech
lightly. He called to Stark. "Ooh. And I suppose now you are going to
ground me." "I hate to ruin this family moment, but we have a problem here." Doc leaned backwards in his chair, elevating his voice enough for Stark, David, Jim and Sonia to hear. Angie motioned for Stark and David to move into the living room. "What's up now?," Jim asked as he entered from the kitchen. Seeing Doc at his computer only added to his worries. The feeling at the bottom of his stomach began to rise up to his throat again. "You know who is contacting us again. Seems as though Dragit is on his way down." Doc crossed his arms. "So, what are we going to do?" Angie walked up to Doc and peered over his shoulder. "They have someone who knows the inside. We're suppose to meet her tomorrow and add her to our group," Stark answered. "We've got to be quick about this one. Dragit has only one reason to be here...," "Because of me," David cut off Doc. Doc nodded his head. "Pick up is in 7 hours. Let's get ready people." Stark left the doorframe and headed up the stairs. |
